First-Year Assignments

We are so excited to be a part of your new journey here at South! Below you will find key dates and information on receiving a room assignment as a first-time year student.

First-Year Students

Academic Year 2025-2026 Assignment Timeline

FIRST-YEAR ASSIGNMENTS:

Room Assignments

  • Housing Contract Deadline: April 1, 2025
  • RoomSync Roommate Matching Deadline: April 1, 2025
  • Room Selection for First-Year Students event opens on MyUSAHousing: April 9–18, 2025

First-year students who complete their Housing contract by April 1 will participate in room selection. Room selection will include five (5) first-year buildings (Azalea, Camellia, Epsilon 1-2, and Delta 6). Room selection priority is based on the completed date of the AY 2025-2026 Housing contract.

Students will receive details by email to their JagMail about these assignment events, including timeslots for participation.

â–¼   What if I complete my Housing contract AFTER the April 1 deadline?

Due to the high number of incoming first-year students who have self-selected a room during First-Year Room Selection, room availability is limited at this time. However, the »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ is committed to the first-year residential experience and ensuring that all incoming first-year students who desire to live on campus are able to do so.

Incoming first-year students who complete their Housing contract AFTER April 1 are automatically added to the Housing Priority List.

What does being on the Housing Priority List mean?

Our team is working daily to process cancellations, which often opens a room space and allows for new assignments to be made. When any open room becomes available, you will be assigned automatically to that room and an update will be sent to your JagMail informing you of the new room assignment (Note: this initial room may differ from your room preferences). You can view this new room assignment (along with any roommate updates) on the 'Home' page of your MyUSAHousing portal. If you are wanting a different assignment than the one you were assigned, you can add yourself to a Wait List for the residence hall/room type you prefer.

How is the Housing Priority List different from a Wait List?

For you to be on a 'Wait List' for a particular residence hall or room type, you must first have a room assignment in any residence hall (i.e., the room assignment you received from the Housing Priority List). After you have been assigned to a room from the Housing Priority List (Note: this initial room may differ from your room preferences), you will then be able to sign up on for the Wait List for your preferred residence hall/room type on your MyUSAHousing portal.

â–¼   Roommate Search
The ability to search for a roommate to live with you will open online in the MyUSAHousing portal on November 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM CST, and will close on April 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST.
